Undergraduate URCA Poster Presentations

Lily: My URCA project was about how children make evaluations and judgements based on others' beliefs. I designed and conducted a study with 5-15 year old children. For example, does a child think that someone who believes in the evil eye will also believe in the tooth fairy? Children met characters with different beliefs, then answered questions about each character. We found that children make more belief-based evaluations with age and use multiple cues when doing so, such as belief normativity and belief type. In the future, it would be interesting to replicate this study in other cultures, as belief evaluations are culturally-dependent.
