Meet with our fourth-year PhD candidate - Oya Serbest
September 22, 2025
Oya is a third-year PhD student in Developmental and Evolutionary Psychology. She studies how children understand social groups—especially how they use cues like language and race to categorize people, and how this shapes developing biases and prejudices. Her research combines developmental and evolutionary perspectives, including cross-cultural studies and individual differences, to explore which aspects of social categorization are universal and which are shaped by culture.
