Chuyi Yang presents poster at Cognitive Development Society conference
Chuyi presented a poster titled “Children use private correction as a friendship cue” at the 2024 Cognitive Development Society Conference in Pasadena, CA. In this study, we found that children expected an individual who protected another person’s reputation to be friends with each other. Additionally, some children thought that these individuals might be as good of friends as those who played with each other, and shared with each other. This work highlights children’s early understanding of reputation and how protecting each others’ reputations might be important for understanding the social world. Chuyi’s poster presentation was graciously supported by the Cognitive Development Society Conference Diversity Travel Award.
