Alisa Bedrov presents talk at Cognitive Development Society conference
Alisa gave a talk titled "Investigating the Types of Secrets that Promote Friendship Evaluation in Children" at the biennial meeting of the Cognitive Development Society (CDS).
This research is done in collaboration with Zoe Liberman.
"In this talk, I present data from two studies looking at how the type of secrets kids share are associated with friendship. Specifically, Study 1 shows that sharing a personal secret about the self, rather than a secondhand secret about another classmate, is associated with friendship. Study 2 shows that as children grow older, they begin to associate sharing a secret with just one person as a stronger friendship cue than sharing the secret with everybody or nobody. This talk is part of a symposium looking at how kids associate knowledge with social affiliation, with other topics being friendship inferences from shared clothing style and mutual acquaintances."
Congratulations, Alisa!
